ICYMI: BINHI’s First Kumustahan

by Chelsea Magdaraog

Last September 27, 2025, at 10 AM, BINHI held its Volunteers’ Kumustahan Activity “BINHI: Seeds of Discovery” via Google Meet. Despite the heavy rain and the weekend that usually calls for rest, both longtime and new volunteers showed up that day to share stories and insights about how it’s like to volunteer for BINHI.

The event was a casual meet-and-greet for prospective volunteers–a space to ask questions, hear actual experiences, and discover how anyone can contribute to BINHI’s advocacy for basic literacy in public schools.

Volunteer champions shared what keeps them motivated, while Judith Ann Apolinario-Follero, Executive Director of iVolunteer Philippines, joined as a special guest. She inspired the group by sharing her journey in community work and emphasized the positive impact volunteering has on personal growth, community connection, and finding purpose through service.

We even had freebies up for grabs courtesy of iVolunteer Philippines and The One Hour Project, so don’t miss the next Kumustahan!

BINHI continues to welcome individuals who want to lend their skills as:

  1. Binhi buddy volunteer tutors
  2. Volunteer content creators
  3. Social media ambassadors
  4. Volunteer storytellers
  5. Production buddies
  6. Volunteer testers
  7. Para-teachers
