This school year, BINHI proudly welcomes its largest number of BINHI Scholars yet—1,000 Kindergarten to Grade 2 learners across 40 classes from 19 partner public schools in Metro Manila and Calamba, Laguna. These aspiring BINHI Scholars are embarking on the transformative 100-day BINHI Learning Program, designed to strengthen their English reading, speaking, and writing skills. Together, we’re building a strong foundation for their academic and personal success.
Championing Change Together: Our Heartfelt Thanks to SupportersBINHI’s impact thrives because of the generous hearts behind the scenes. Ten corporate sponsors and numerous individual donors have made this milestone possible. Special thanks to Corinthian Plaza Corporation, Happy2Help, ICTSI Foundation, Inc., Jesus V. Del Rosario Foundation, Inc., Light Rail Manila Corporation, Metrobank Foundation, Inc., RATP Dev Manila, Rockwell Land Corporation, Rosa Padilla, Inc., and Vicente L. Rufino Foundation, Inc. for investing in our children’s brighter futures through enhanced English literacy.
We especially appreciate the sponsors who actively engaged through their participation in pre-testing and material turnovers. As Ms. Corazon Zamudio, Head of HR and Administration at RATP Dev Manila, shares, “Our partnership with BINHI and Jose Rizal Elementary School reflects our core values to create sustainable cities and support quality education for underserved Filipino children.” This exemplifies how collaboration drives real community impact.
Equipping Educators: Elevating Teaching through Science of ReadingOn August 2 and 9, BINHI hosted back-to-back teacher training sessions at BINHI’s office in Makati City, empowering both new and experienced educators with cutting-edge Science of Reading techniques and implementation strategies to be applied in their BINHI classes. Thanks to the insightful sessions from our in-house Program Coordinators for Curriculum and Development Ms. Izzah Caballero and Ms. Kat Saliendra followed by literacy experts, Ms. Rizalina C. Labanda, Vice President for Teaching and Research of Association of Fil-Am Teachers of America Inc. and Dr. Vivian R. Villanueva, Associate Professor and Director of Bachelor in Early Childhood Education Department at De La Salle University and Director and Owner of the Sekolah Shalom Learning and Development Center, teachers gained fresh perspectives on BINHI class implementation, classroom management, and literacy instruction.
The overwhelming positive feedback from teachers energizes our mission to nurture skilled educators who shape confident, capable readers. According to Ms. Mary Jane Amosco of H. J. Atienza Elementary School, she learned new ideas and strategies to be a more effective teacher not only for BINHI pupils but also in regular class.
Volunteer Power: Join the BINHI Reading Warriors! Our passionate volunteers are the heartbeat of BINHI. From the 103 volunteers who helped in the sorting and packing learning materials to the 93 volunteers who helped in the facilitation of the pre-test activity, their dedication brings the BINHI program to life.
We’re also incredibly grateful for our partners, iVolunteer Philippines and TheOneHourProject who were essential in recruiting and managing our incredible volunteer teams.
Every helping hand counts—join us and become a BINHI Reading Warrior today!
Nourishing Scholars Together: Parent Volunteers Lead Feeding ProgramsBuilding on the success of last school year, BINHI proudly continues its feeding programs with heartfelt involvement from parent volunteers. Through the Hapag-Asa Feeding Program—a collaboration with Assisi Development Foundation, Inc., Century Pacific Group-RSPo, Inc., and Scholars Of Sustenance Philippines – SOS Philippines—and the Jesus V. del Rosario Feeding Program, parents actively prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals to our BINHI Scholars. This initiative not only fuels their minds but also nourishes their bodies, reinforcing our commitment to holistic support for every learner’s growth.
Building Bridges: Expanding Our CommunityBINHI continues to extend its reach by actively participating in key partner and community events, including:
iVolunteer partner organizations gathered to share their highlights from the first half of the year, discuss their plans for the rest of the year, and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
We participated in the Cognizant Family Fair, a festive event centered around a fun run and other family-oriented activities. Our outreach booth provided a great opportunity to connect with new and potential volunteers.
These engagements strengthen our network, ignite partnerships, and broaden opportunities to uplift more Filipino children.
Together, Let’s Ignite a Brighter FutureBINHI’s journey is a collective effort fueled by passionate advocates, inspired educators, generous partners, and dedicated volunteers. With each child empowered to read, speak, and write with confidence, we are nurturing the next generation of leaders and changemakers. Join us in spreading the gift of literacy—because when we uplift one reader, we uplift a community.
