On March 14, we brought together our BINHI Reading Warriors for a heartfelt Volunteer Appreciation Day in Makati City. For this school year, 525 volunteers have selflessly dedicated their time to advancing our mission. They pack kits with essential learning materials, facilitate reading assessments to track progress, teach students how to read online, and amplify our cause as ambassadors through storytelling, content creation, and advocacy promotion. Their efforts form the heartbeat of BINHI’s work in transforming lives through literacy.
Kicking off the festivities, BINHI President Ms. Lisa Bayot delivered an uplifting inspirational message. She reminded everyone of BINHI’s humble beginnings and the profound impact they continue to make in the community. We then dove right into Human Bingo to break the ice, with volunteers sharing stories and sparking connections.
Next, we presented this year’s outcomes, including the number of students reached and improvements in their pre-reading and reading skills. We credited their involvement as a key to our success.
Midway through, we fueled the fun with snacks and set up a photobooth with custom bookmark keepsakes to capture the memories.
Embracing our theme of celebrating the love of reading, we hosted a Book Exchange where volunteers swapped treasured books and fostered new additions to their collections. Long-time volunteer Sir Dave then shared a touching message, urging us to cherish the books we received and uncover their unique meaning in our lives.
Partners also took the stage to introduce themselves. They shared personal stories of how they got involved with BINHI and the rewards of volunteering. We capped the day by recognizing our outstanding volunteers and honoring their exceptional dedication, which continues to inspire our team and our BINHI Reading Warriors.
This event would not have been possible without the support of our partners: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (Philippines), Century Pacific Group-RSPo Foundation, Enchanted Kingdom, and ITA-Outline (https://ita-outline.carrd.co/). Their generous donations, from tote bags and tumblers to fun stickers and Enchanted Kingdom tickets, served as perfect tokens of appreciation for our warriors.
Join us in thanking these heroes! Become a BINHI Reading Warrior today!
